Industrial Officer Canberra AIndustrial Officer ACT Division Canberra Division

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents over 25,000 academic and general staff in Universities and other tertiary education providers.  NTEU is seeking a highly motivated staff member for its ACT Division based in Canberra. 

The successful candidate will be assigned a mix of duties, drawn from:

• As part of a team, develop and undertake the Union’s industrial campaigns
• Provide industrial advice to all levels of the Union
• Develop and implement industrial and bargaining strategies
• Undertake research and analyse data
• Participate in collective bargaining negotiations
• Provide industrial advice and assistance to members
• Prepare and argue cases before relevant tribunals.

The successful applicant will have a commitment to unionism, experience in industrial negotiations and/or high level research, writing and campaign skills. Knowledge of the tertiary education industry would be an advantage. 

Salary is in the range NTEU level 6-7 ($67,472 - $84,535) plus 17% superannuation.

Branch Organiser - University of Melbourne

The National Tertiary Education Union (Victorian Division) covers nearly 10,000 members employed in universities, associated companies, Research Institutes, TAFE, students unions and adult and community education.  The Union’s membership includes Academic, General staff, Research and Professional staff.

This is an on-going full-time position based initially at the University of Melbourne. 

The successful applicant will be responsible, with other staff and delegates, for the organisation and completion of organising, campaign, representation, industrial and administrative tasks and projects in a university workplace.  The position will work directly with the elected branch officers and committee, the Victorian Division and National Office staff and officers.  The position will report to the Branch Executive and the Victorian Division Secretary.

The position will be filled at either NTEU Level 5 ($59,764 - $64,615) or NTEU Level 6 ($67,472 - $73,967) depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.  Terms and conditions for both these positions are covered by a national collective agreement which has terms comparable with NTEU members in the industry.

NTEU National Industrial Officer Melbourne

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents over 25,000 academic and general staff in Universities and other tertiary education providers.  NTEU is seeking a highly motivated staff member for its National Office Industrial team based in Melbourne.  Regular interstate travel is expected.

The successful candidate will be assigned a mix of duties, drawn from:

• Development and carriage of the Union’s industrial campaigns, including writing campaign materials
• Provision of high-level industrial advice to all levels of the Union
• Development and implementation of industrial and bargaining strategies
• Research and analysis of data
• Collective bargaining negotiations
• Preparation and advocacy of cases before relevant tribunals.

The successful applicant will have a commitment to unionism, experience in industrial negotiations and/or high level research, writing and campaign skills. Knowledge of the tertiary education industry would be an advantage. 

Salary is in the range NTEU level 7 ($76,567 - $84,535) plus 17% superannuation.
